The Department of Stomatology of Peking University Third Hospital was established in 1958. At the beginning, it started with only three dental treatment units. After more than 60 years of the joint efforts, the department has now developed several major specialties including Endodontics, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Traditional Chinese Medicine & Oral Medicine, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, and Orthodontics. The department builds its system with talents ladders and supported by strengths in clinical, teaching, and research.

Currently, the Department has branches in five locations including the hospital branch, the Capital Airport branch, the Northern Branch, the Party School Branch, and the Second Clinic Branch. Total about 90 dental treatment units in the five branches, and digital imaging and treatment equipment such as Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT), dental digital X-image system, Panorex Radiography, and Dental Operating Microscopes, as well as advanced disinfection equipment and the leading Medical Information Management are equipped, which supports the high quality medical services and the development of the department.
